Good review of SQL and sql server management studio for beginners. Walks users through the basics and introduces several useful functions. I took off 1 star though because of rampant typos -- some are merely distracting and others lead to incorrect information. This would have been a much better ebook if it simply had been proof-read.Product details

Practical Sql Microsoft Sql Server TSQL for Beginners eBook Mark O'Donovan Reviews
The book was helpful, but could use a good editor. I'm not entirely new to MS SQL Server. The book did cover some things that were new to me. Grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors were a bit distracting.
I like the fact that Practical SQL focuses on SQL Server Express, since that it is free software and available for everyone to use. This book makes really clear on how to get the software, install it, and be up and running so you can then focus on learning SQL!
The book comes with lots of examples, script that you can cut and paste into your database, as well as screen shots so you can confirm what you're doing is correct and expected.
Though the book starts out with simple examples, by the time you get through the chapters, you've been exposed to various joins, enough to get anyone up and started querying data.
If you're a beginner, and want the focus on the essence of T-SQL, then this is a good choice.
